A new Wildlife Trust of India report, “Guardians of the Wild,” highlights the courage and sacrifices of Van Rakshaks, the nation’s frontline forest guards. Guarding over 1,100 Protected Areas, these rangers work under dangerous and under-equipped conditions, with India recording the world’s highest number of forest staff fatalities. Released at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi, the report is a call to recognise and protect those who guard India’s forests, the true guardians of the wild
